While it may not be ideal to drink water after a meal, there is no doubt among experts that the body needs plenty of water to function properly. Some argue that one should drink water before a meal as this gives an increased feeling of satiety which makes us eat less.

Many people have a habit of drinking cold water after  a meal.  But it turns out that this can be harmful to health .  Although calling it “harmful” is an exaggeration, it can lead to abdominal pain. Which means that the experts recommend that we avoid it. 

Before we begin, let us remember that this theory is not scientifically proven. But it may be worth keeping in mind the next time you think about drinking a glass of cold water after a meal.

If you drink cold water right after a meal.  Can you get constipation as cold can change the consistency of the food we have eaten. And thus make it harder to digest. Fatty foods tend to be hard in the face of cold water. Which makes it difficult to digest. A longer digestive process can lead to acid reflux .

If you drink more water than usual, this can also be problematic. Then it dilutes the stomach acid that the stomach needs to break down food. Which means that we digest the food more slowly. This can make you feel tired and relaxed after meals, and thus get less done afterwards.

It can also lead to stomach pain and bloating as some food expands in contact with water. The pain gets worse if we drink too much water, as this slows down digestion.

The same thing happens if we eat food that is too strong: this is more difficult to break down and can in some cases lead to diarrhea.
